Ohu | Subcommittees
When you enrol your child at Kura you will be asked to join a Ohu/Subcommittee. Each Kura whānau must be represented on a Ohu. Each Ohu is summarised below. Please note on the enrolment form what Ohu you would like to be on and we will update the Ohu list with your details.
Ohu Arotake
Manage whānau tono / liaise with and support new whānau.

Ohu Mārau
Assist Kura management / Kaiako with annual planning and curriculum planning/development.

Ohu Whare / Whenua
Kaitiaki of land and buildings.
Convener: Ben Law
Ohu Kura
Manaakitanga - Assistance when Kura events are on (e.g. assist in preparing hangi/kai, assistance at Kura hosted events) and manage Kura fundraising events.

Ohu Reo
Monitor reo integrity of the Kura. Arrange reo kauapa for whānau to participate in.

Ohu Kapa Haka

Develop kapa haka content for our Kura and tutor our tamariki generally and in preparation for events.

Ohu Whakahaere
Ohu Whakahaere comprises the conveners of each of the other Ohu alongside the Chairperson of the Kura - Te Whatanui Winiata. Ohu Whakahaere acts as a quasi “Board of Trustees”. Although the mana whakahaere remains with the entire whānau - for practicality and legislative compliance, this Ohu is a smaller group that drives business alongside the Tumuaki. Whānau have delegated a number of responsibilities to the Ohu Whakahaere to progress.
