He Hokinga Māhara
Te Kura-o--Whakatupuranga Rua Mano, was established in response to a call from Maori grandparents, parents, aunts, and uncles, in the community who were dissatisfied with the educational options available to their children. The iwi wanted a Kura that was built upon the Matauranga and Tikanga of the Confederation. A Kura that would operate as a part of the Whakatupuranga Rua Mano Vision, and a contributor to the educational objectives of the iwi. A Kura that would research and maintain the Iwi values, Reo, symbols, literature and world view, all things
that make us, in this world, distinctive.
Te Kura-o-Whakatupuranga Rua Mano has been established by the Confederation as part of their tribal development program, to be their Kura-ā-Iwi to promulgate their knowledge, to promote their seamless education system, and respond to the needs of the Iwi. No other Kura in the region is able to tailor its service to Te Ati Awa, Ngāti Raukawa, and Ngāti Toarangatira, Te Kura-ā- Iwi o Whakatupuranga Rua Mano was designed by the iwi of the district to further their educational aspirations as deemed appropriate by them.
